Attendance & Opening times
Attendance
At Manor Field Junior School, we are committed to establishing a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment, where the education and welfare of pupils is given the highest priority.
For a child to reach their full educational potential a high level of attendance is absolutely vital. Parents/carers and all school staff share the responsibility for supporting and promoting excellent school attendance and punctuality for all.
Good attendance is important because:
-
Statistics show a direct link between under-achievement and absence below 95%;
-
Regular attendees make better progress, both socially and academically;
-
Regular attendees find school routines, school work and friendships easier to cope with;
-
Regular attendees find learning more satisfying;
-
Regular attendees are more successful in transferring between primary school, secondary school, and higher education, employment or training.
School Hours
The children can arrive from 8:30am and we expect them to be working by 8.45am; please ensure your child arrives on time so that they don’t miss essential learning. Children who arrive later than 8:45am will need to enter the school through reception and will be recorded as late. If children are regularly late, they will be issued with an unauthorised late mark, as agreed in our school attendance policy.
Morning Session : 8.45am - 12.00 noon
Morning Break : 10.25am - 10.40am
Afternoon Session : 12.55 pm - 3.15 pm
We ask that children do not arrive at school before 8.30am. The pedestrian gate is opened at 8:30am.
The total time in a typical school week is approximately 34 hours
After 8.30am, the children are welcome to come into school, read quietly, organise themselves for the day...
If your child is sick, please ring the office before 8.45am so we know they are safe. If we do not hear from a parent/carer regarding your child's absence by 10:00am, we will complete a 'Welfare Check' and visit the home for safety reasons. so please keep us informed to avoid this taking place.
For term dates please see our diary dates.
Please note, parents and carers are invited to visit The Mocktail Bar with their children to choose or share a brilliant book, both before (from 8:15am) and after school (until 4:00pm).
Medical Appointments
Avoid taking your child out of school for non-urgent medical or dental appointments. If possible, you must ensure that medical appointments are made outside of school time.
Holidays
Holidays are no longer authorised in term time. If you have a special circumstance you can ask the school office for a 'Leave of Absence Form'. There is, however, no legal entitlement for time off in school time to go on holiday; in the majority of cases, holiday will not be authorised. Each case will be reviewed independently. Please be aware if days are unauthorised this could result in a penalty notice being requested. Failure to pay can result in court action.
